Montfort Castle is one of the most beautiful Crusader fortresses in Israel. Other castles may be larger and better kept, but this fortress offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Katziv Stream in the valley and dense, forested mountains. This small, picturesque town has narrow, winding alleys, stone houses with vines falling from their roofs, and a relaxing atmosphere overlooking the Galilee’s hills. The main attractions are a cave in which Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai hid from their Romans, an ancient synagogue, Maronite and Greek Orthodox churches, and a Druze khalwat. Gush Halav was an important Jewish city during the Second Temple period and at the time of the writing the Mishnah and Talmud. Today, the Arab town of Jish sits on the remains of the town, which holds an ancient synagogue and a Jewish cemetery within burial caves. The town also has beautiful churches frequented by the local residents, fragrant orchards, and scenic, panoramic views of the Galilee region
The ancient cloth house located in the village of Mi’iliya was likely built 400 years ago. It’s located in the heart of a 900-year-old Crusader fortress. Surprisingly, the cloth house in Mi’iliya is still in use, and events are held to show the public the traditional craft
The arch is the sole remnant of the cave’s long-since collapsed ceiling. This natural attraction offers breathtakingly scenic views of the surrounding countryside. The landscape includes the Rosh Hanikra hills, Haifa Bay, Mount Carmel, Mount Meron, and more
The Ga’aton Stream area offers a scenic route through the Western Galilee landscape. The route is circular and begins at the Eshchar Spring, one of the stream’s three large springs. A thicket of trees of various species lines the stream. The winter and spring see the blooming of numerous wildflowers, including anemones, buttercups, and cyclamens
The Yehi’am Fortress is a medieval Crusader fortress dating from the 12th century, built on the remains of a settlement from the Roman era. The first pioneers who arrived in 1946 lived in the ruined fortress, which also served as a refuge during Israel’s War of Independence. The defenders’ positions have been restored and the area can be toured. The tour narrates the battles that took place during the war. At the top of the fortress is an observatory, which offers beautiful views of the Western Galilee

Gardens and Parks
Goren Park covers nearly 2000 dunams near Kibbutz Ayalon and Moshav Goren. In most areas of the park, the Katziv Stream and Montfort Castle are visible. The park has family-friendly hiking trails, some of which are short and easy, while others are off the beaten path. They are numerous well-equipped picnic areas
Acre’s Baha’i Gardens, located two kilometers north of the city, are the holiest place for Baha’is in the world. The spacious garden is beautifully designed.

Admit Park offers a beautiful view of the Western Galilee and the Haifa Bay. Rocks and caves abound in the park, a result of millennia of unique rock formations. There are marked hiking trails (the Terrace Path and the Perfume Path) that lead through planted orchards, scenic views, and many places to relax for a picnic
The park’s gates close at 8:00 PM and open at 8:00 AM. No visitors are allowed after dark
A magical lake with wooden bridges and a small peninsula of land filled with vegetation. Quite a few ducks have adopted the place as their home. In addition to the hiking trail, there is a family-friendly park by the lake offering water activities. Additional details can be found on the website

A magical and charming stretch of beach, alongside lagoons and natural sea pools. Small islands are visible from the beach and form part of the nature reserve. The park has a rugged and rocky beach, lagoons, and natural and artificial swimming pools. One is deep, while the other is shallow and kid-friendly. In the clear water, you’ll be able to see sea anemones, sea urchins, and small octopuses hiding under stones

Sport and Activities
Tornado boats ride along the coast from the southern to the northern edge of Nahariya starting from Achziv’s beaches. There’s a stop at the magical Bird Island lagoon. Swimming with a diving mask and snorkel is allowed.

Itineraries
A magical route, suitable for lone hikers, couples, and families. The path offers superb views of the Galilee and sites such as the “Tree of Nostalgia” and “Ben’s House.”
The nature reserve is situated between Lapidot in the east and Yarka in the west. The reserve has a circular walking path, which begins and ends at the entrance junction of Kishor, Pelek, and Tuval. It is also possible to branch off on other routes. The path passes near Tefen Cave
The Ziv Spring gushes forth with water and flows directly to the flowing Katziv Stream, which boasts scenic pools and a beautiful riverbank. The steep slopes overlooking the stream are filled with vegetation. The reserve has various hiking trails. More details are available on their website
